It's OK to Try...

So I just had an idea. What if we were to strive to do what we love to do and it works. Like what I mean by “and it works” is, you know when you have a super creative idea and you are so stoked about it and you’re like this is amazing… then that second thought comes in or you tell someone about it and you think, nah that’s not going to work because it’s what… IMPOSSIBLE.

That dream is too hard for me to accomplish. I don’t have enough resources to get this started. Who am I to do this? I ain’t nobody. I don’t know the right people. Umm, you don’t know my track record. Yea, sounds like a good idea, but I always have good ideas, I never follow through with them… My oh my, the list goes on of the negative thoughts we think about ourselves.

I heard not too long ago, that what if the thought to build an airplane produce the light bulb or the World Wide Web was never tried, where would we be? Like think about Moses. There wasn’t rain before the great flood, so why in the world was he building an ark?? It started with a thought and look where it got him and his family and the animals, two by two.

Every thought is not going to be practical, rational, logical or even doable (if this is a word) when we first get the download. When we take that thought back to God with a heart that says, Lord I know this is not something I thought of on my own, and it’s too big for me, so I know that you had to have something or everything to do with it… So how can I be of service to you?

Then sometimes, and this is most times, that we have to just walk out what He showed us. This is called operating by faith. When operating by faith, yes you are waiting to get instruction, but then too you are also to work at what you can do. At least until the next piece of instruction comes, you’ll be ready and not lagging behind, saying “hold up real quick, let me finish this piece”.

I’m really preaching to myself with these words I type because this is me alllll day. I am such a big procrastinator it’s not funny. I just wondered though, what if we were to actually act out on that CRAZY thought we had. Then even more, what if that CRAZY thought turned out to be something even greater than we ever imagined… you just made history!!!

One of my favorite scriptures I used to read often was Joshua 1:9… Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Although the journey will have bumps and bruises, long waiting periods, and all that good stuff we usually don’t tend to like, I think it’s worth giving it a try. You never know what great things are in store.

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

Unbreak My Heart

Although I am writing about myself, I want for my readers to see themselves or someone in a similar situation. Not feel sorry for yourself or them, but to gain some clarity. This make take a moment to read, so kick back and get comfortable for a moment. Right now I'm listening to Un-Break My Heart by Toni Braxton & have the nerve to have it on repeat. I actually really love old 90's hits. That's when real music was in. It’s around 5p so I’m writing in between stops in traffic. For probably the last few years I've been beating myself up over this simple yet burdensome stumbling block. Somewhere, sometime ago I lost confidence in myself. I couldn't understand it because although I knew people had an opinion about me, truthfully I didn't care. Like, literally someone could say something out of line to me & I wouldn't notice, because my mind more than likely was on something else anyhow. Somewhere along the way I began to care & I will say that...

Leave It...

“What did you do with all your books?” “I left everything in there. I didn’t want to bring anything from there, here.”   This was a question I asked a friend who was recently released from prison. Funny this piece of our conversation came to mind this morning. You’re getting ready to move from one place to another yet you look at your current space you’ve been residing for so long. You’ve collected so much stuff over the years. Stuff that at one point you needed and held onto so desperately and dared anyone take it from you. Some that fed you. Some that depleted you. Some that distracted you. Some that strengthened you. Some things you look at and ask why or where did this come from. Letters, notes, pictures, little nick knacks are everywhere. All this stuff surrounding a current space you’re about to leave for good. What are you going to do with the collection? Do you take it with you or do you leave it all there? Opening your bag, setting it on the bed you laid your head...

Intervention

Intervention...   I am reminded of the movie Frankie and Alice. I said that I was going to go back and watch that movie. Because Frankie has a personality disorder. Frankie had Alice, Frankie (herself) and Genius to deal with. Frankie was trying to cope with life the best way that she knew how to do so. In her regular self, Frankie was an exotic dancer and did things that comes with that lifestyle. Alice was a person Frankie had tucked away from her past and it was almost like she didn’t exist. Alice was determined to make Frankie pay for what she had done to her at such a young age. Frankie knew the events had taken place but back in that time and even still in her present time, there were many things that were left unsaid. So Frankie accepted her reality but never let the memories go. This was a place she would visit every so often but instead of her prompting the memories the memories would be triggered by a song, vision, an event or person that closely resembled anyth...
